Biggest skincare trends for 2021

2020 was a very weird and crazy year (we carry a few things to 2021) and those major events will define the trends of many industries, especially the skincare industry.

I have been reading information and different new launches and studies and I want to predict some future trends in skincare that I think will be big this year.

Maskne

Because of the mandatory use of mask, many of us are experiencing some skin reactions like irritations or pimples or other affections. Based on this a new term “Maskne” was created. This refers to the reactions your skin has.

I’m predicting that companies will focus their launches on products that will help us correct, treat and prevent this. We already have good ingredients to treat this, but I’m predicting that we will have different type of formats and deliveries.

An example is that they have been an increasing new launch of spot to treat pimples. This are not new but now you can find different formats and prints to treat, even ones that you can use under makeup. This ones from Tony Moly are very fun.

Hands repair treatments

Our increased and constant use of hand sanitizer and soap, our hands are becoming drier and sometimes can experience irritation. I foresee many new products and treatments that are targeted to take extra care to our hands: mask, gloves, devices, etc. I’m very looking forward of what the companies have in store.

Centella asiatica

This is one of my favorite skincare ingredients as it is perfect for soothing and repairing the skin. It helps to calm the skin and soothe any irritation. This is present in many products today, but I think it will take a center stage this year as laser, chemical peels and retinol have been more popular in the past few years. Therefore, there will be more demand for products to help the skin to repair and calm after a treatment or a change of environment. I’m betting big one on this.

Devices to target pigmentation at home

We have seen the increase of option of devices for skincare to be use at home , from the jade rollers to LED mask and ending to the well-known Nu face device that helps stimulate the production of collagen and improve the condition of the skin. But now, my prediction is that the devices will go to the next level and we will have options to target pigmentation and scars at home (safely).

What do you think will be the biggest trend for 2021?
