Product review | Neutrogena Hydro boost body gel cream

Hello everybody, how are you doing? I hope well and if you are on holiday, then I hope you are having a great time. In my case I will take my holiday by the end of August, so I’m in Amsterdam surviving the heat wave we had last weekend and man it was hot! we reached almost 40 C on Friday, I thought I was going to melt.

Today’s product review comes in handy as has been the good product for summer as it is very light and fresh, but that is pretty much it. Let’s go directly to the review and find out!

Product name: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Gel Cream

Main Ingredient: Hyaluronic acid. Well to be honest the main ingredient is Sodium hyaluronate which is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid and have similar properties (and is way down in the ingredient list).

Purpose: The purpose of this gel-lotion is to moisturize and improve skin hydration level.

For whom is good: For all skin types as every skin will benefit from it. For oily skins is perfect as the texture is so light and fresh it won’t clog pores and for normal to dry skins it will add the necessary moisture without feeling greasy. This moisturizer is safe for sensitive skins (clinically tested).

When to use it: Anytime, but specially after the shower. Frequency – daily.

Free of: Mineral Oil – Parabens – Alcohol – Fragrance (the fragrance-free version).

Vegan: No.

Tested on animals: No, is not cruelty free.

Size: 400 ml |16 Fl Oz.

My opinion: Initially I really liked as it was fresh, it absorbed very quickly, I can put it on my skin and get dressed very quickly and I had a instant feeling that my skin was moisturized.

Unfortunately, that feeling was not long-lasting. It was a quick fix to help my skin but doesn’t have a deeper effect as other body lotions have. One thing that caught my eye is that is marketed as its main ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid, but it is way down in the ingredient list and is a derivative of it, not the main ingredient.

Initially the first 3-4 days I really liked it and I used 3 bottles (I bought on a 3 for 2 deal). But after I finished them, I notice that my skin was still dry and flaky, and although I really enjoy the texture it was doing nothing for me and was not a moisturizing as other preferred lotions I have used.

Overall, I had high hopes for this product and the beginning I was loving it but quickly I realized that i did not deliver as I expected. It a quick fix but won’t help your skin in the long run.

Score: 3/5

Versions: There are 2 versions Original scent and Fragrance – Free. And it comes in 2 sizes: 250ml & 400ml.

Price point: 400 ml: 7.5€ | $8.99| £5.99

Where can you buy it:

From Neutrogena page and any main drugstores in the USA like Target, CVS or Walmart. In Europe you buy it from any popular drugstore in your home country, you can order it in lookfantastic.com, Superdrug or Amazon.
