My PM skincare routine

A couple of month ago I share here my AM skincare routine and the 6 steps that are working for me, so I think was logical to follow that post with my PM routine, so you get the whole picture.

If in the AM I’m focus in nourishing and protecting my skin for the day, at night I’m focused in treat my skin in a more deeper level. For your reference, I’m 40 years old, my skin is very dry with fine lines and hyperpigmentation from my years enjoying the sun without shame or SPF.

My focus at night is to treat and repair my skin from the day and active on prevention (in other words anti-aging), so my main objective is to improve the hydration level while work on my fine lines and improve my pigmentation. Here are my current 6 steps routine I’m following each night:

STEP 1: First Cleanse

I follow the double cleanse method when I use makeup or SPF (which is daily). The first cleanse for me is to remove that layer of products (whether is makeup, SPF or both). The products I use I alternate them, sometimes I use a micellar water or a cleansing balm. The cleansing balm is my preferred as is so nice to my skin and get it ready for the second step. A note for micellar water is that I always use it as first cleanse and use another product, as you need to remove the product from your face as is a detergent and even is a great way to remove makeup is still a soap that you are leaving on your skin so always wash it off.

Currently I’m using Bioderma Sensibio H2O for my micellar water and for my cleansing balm my go to product is Emma Hardie Moringa cleansing balm.

STEP 2: Second Cleanse

After removing dirt and the layers of products I have worn during the day, then I do the cleansing that is the one that will prepare my skin to receive the benefits of all the following products I will use after. The way I cleanse my skin is that I apply the cleanser directly to my face (no water), massage it and then with a moist towel or washcloth I remove the cleanser.. My current cleanser is: Shiseido Waso Quick gentle cleanser.

STEP 3: Mist

The same as in the morning after cleansing I use a mist to add little bit of moisture before applying the active ingredients has been very good and I really like the feeling of a good mist and my skin appreciate it. Currently I’m using that I’m really loving: Embryolisse Eau De Beaute Rosamelis, it is alcohol free and my skin really likes it.

Step 4: Acid or Retinol

Here is where I treat my skin on the concerns or issues I see. I alternate between Retinol and an acid; I never use them together. I prefer to use one active ingredient and let my skin react and receive the benefits.

My sequence is retinol- acid – retinol – acid, independently what time of the year is. The retinol I use as anti-aging as is the gold standard and a proven product that really have shown results in targeting wrinkles, pigmentation and texture. I’m not using retinol now, but the my go to is Retirides 0,05%.

Step 5: Serum

In this step I nourish and support my skin barrier, so I choose a moisturizing serum that has nourishing and calming ingredients like: Vitamin E or/and Coenzyme Q10, etc . My current serum is one that has really impressed me in a good way: Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Antioxidant Serum.

Step 6: Moisturizer

Like in the morning, I use moisturizer to end the routine and be ready for bed. At night I use a denser cream that in the morning. I’m currently using It cosmetics Confidence in a cream that contains Ceramides and peptides great for retaining moisture. For the eye area, I’m using CeraVe Eye repair cream
