Hello everybody!
Continuing with the sustainability series, today I’m sharing my third step I have done to improve and be a little be more sustainable while doing my skincare and in life as well.
My third change was to switch for disposable cotton pads, to reusable. I do use them mainly for removing my eye makeup, applying toners and removing my nail polish.
I did a small calculation of how many pads I was using per year. I use on average 10 pads per week, so that made it more than 400 disposable pads per year. So there was an opportunity to improve.
I did research to see which ones where the best ones in terms of performance and cost. Also I took into account the 3 main reasons I used them for:
Removing eye makeup
I use a balm cleanser to remove my makeup but when my eyes are sensible, or I have used waterproof makeup I remove it first with a cotton pad. So I need a reusable pad that is not to harsh on my eye , but does the works.
Applying toners
I apply toner occasionally during my evening routine to balance my skin after cleansing to prepare for the next steps. For this I need a reusable pad soft that doesn’t harm my skin.
Removing nail polish
Weekly I do a retouch of my manicure at home, so I need some strong reusable pads to help me on that task.
In addition, I needed the pads to be long lasting, as it doesn’t make sense if they are going to last a month or less.
Good thing there so many good options out there, so the list is very long. The ones I’m using at the moment are the Spaces Bamboo Cotton Pads. They are great for sensitive skin and easy to clean. They are easy and convenient to travel with
They come in a 20pack with a wash bag and super soft

A side note, I’m not perfect in living a zero-waste life my intention s to make small changes so I can reduce my waste where I can. My motive behind this is do little steps to be more conscious of our resources. while enjoying my lifestyle.
Hope this post was helpful
Have a great day!
