My AM skincare routine

Hello everybody! Good morning or good evening wherever you are.

For today, I would like to share with you my current AM skincare routine that I finally like. Over the years I have changed it, added products, taking out products, changing them and I’m finally know what works on my skin and what doesn’t.

For clarification I’m 40, my skin is very dry (like the Sahara Desert), with fine lines and hyperpigmentation from my years enjoying the sun without shame or SPF. What a package right? So, my main objective is to improve the hydration level while work on my fine lines and improve my pigmentation. Easy. Ha.

So here are my 6 steps recipe that currently working for me:

STEP 1: CLEANSE

This is the most important step of my routine, why? because this is key for preparing your skin to receive the benefits of all the following products you will use. They way I cleanse my skin is that I apply the cleanser directly to my face (no water), massage it and then with a moist towel or washcloth I remove the cleanser. This method has been a game changer for my skin. The cleanser I’m currently using is a gem: Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel.

STEP 2: MIST

I don’t use toners, I haven’t found a one that works for me so instead I add little bit of moisture before applying the active ingredients has been very good and I really like the feeling of a good mist and my skin appreciate it. Mario Badescu Facial spray with aloe, herbs & rosewater.

STEP 3: ACID

Acid are you best friends. Believe me, they will help your skin to get in the best shape. But there is an acid for every purpose and every skin type. In my case, in this step I use 2 (not at the same time): Vitamin C (ascorbic Acid) or Lactic Acid. Vitamin C is vital to produce collagen and brighten your skin, I wrote a post with all the benefits and why I use it. I’m currently using: Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate – by Kiehl’s When I’m not using Vitamin C I alternate with Lactic acid.

Lactic acid is an AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) is a very gently exfoliator, that helps you to brighten your skin, get rid of rough dead skin. Is like Pac man, “eats” softly all the dead skin, so your skin can renovate and improve hydration. The best one I have tried so far is The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%.

STEP 4: SERUM

Here is where the real deal is, once my skin has been prepared and exfoliate by the acids, this is where I treat it and nourish it. Usually I use Serum enriches with key ingredients that helps my skin regains its balance and be moisturized My current serum is Vichy Mineral 89.

STEP 5: MOISTURIZER

Here I “seal” the deal and lock my skin and prepare it of the day. I generally use a light one or one that acts as a primer. I’m currently using: Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré that i love because is perfect to apply my makeup or to calm my skin when I’m using retinol.

For the eye area, I usually use something that depuffs, hydrates my skin and helps me to reduce my dark circles. My current eye “cream” is The Ordinary caffeine solution 5% + egcg

STEP 6: SPF

This maybe the last step but I think is the most important one. This is the best anti-aging product. Is proven that most of our skin damage comes from the sun, so the best way is to prevent that from happening. I learned this later in life but know I can’t go without SPF Vichy Idéal Soleil Dry Touch Face Cream SPF 50.

I hope this has been useful for you and have a great day!
